Squid Girl Wins the Adventures of Squid Contest

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Party Animal introduced the Adventure Team to Squid Girl, and stole our hearts with the captivating story of her adventures with Santa. Squid Girl is a distant cousin to Squidoo Orange Guy, and it’s obvious that passionate creativity runs in the Squid family!

I’m sure we will be hearing a lot more from this precocious little squid… she’s quite the adventurer, and I look forward to becoming better acquainted!

Adventures of Squid Contest Leads Squidoo Orange Guy to Arizona State University

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Squidoo’s Orange Guy has been busy during his Adventures of Squid Contest! Orange Guy joined me in Phoenix, and we spent some time together working on an adventure of a more serious nature.

It was a bittersweet project, and Orange Guy found himself in tears as he witnessed Project Dignity at Arizona State University. Students from ASU and StandUp For Kids sponsored a restaurant style dinner for 70 homeless kids.

In days to come, I will share more information with you about the sponsors, as well as the kid’s response to the event. Orange Guy was deeply touched by what he saw, and has kindly volunteered to assist me with some help for our nation’s street kids. He’s a tender hearted fellow, and I look forward to working with him!

Squidoo Orange Guy Helps With Food Drive For Homeless Kids

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

The Squidoo Orange Guy is more than just a pretty face…

StandUp For Kids  sponsored a food drive at Wal-Mart, and Orange Guy was there!

I’m the Director of Community Resource Development for the Phoenix Chapter of StandUp For Kids, so I was thrilled that Orange Guy decided to accompany me to help gather some desperately needed supplies for HOMELESS KIDS in Phoenix.

Rashmi, Medj and several other of our local volunteers set up several food drives in order to collect supplies. They have been busy collecting food and personal care items for kids in Phoenix who live on the streets, in parks and abandoned buildings.

I know, I know… it’s apalling, isn’t it? The words “Homeless” and “Kids” should NEVER be used in conjunction, and those of us who volunteer at the Phoenix Chapter of StandUp For Kids intend to do everything we can to put an end to that situation in our neighborhood.

I’m so proud of Squidoo Orange Guy for taking the time out of his busy schedule to join us in the effort to change the world for homeless kids; one event and one community at a time.

 Bravo, Orange Guy!

Our heartfelt “THANKS” to Wal Mart for allowing us to use their stores to help us in our efforts to love the kids that no one else seems to want.

If you live in Phoenix, and want to do something to help, contact me! I would love to share some information with you about how you can join our team of volunteers.
